In 1993 Maxwell wrote and directed the landmark film “Gettysburg,” which has been hailed as one of the greatest war movies in the history of film. In the summer oi 1994, it was broadcast over two nights on the TNT Network, where it established the all-time highest rating for a dramatic film on cable television. The video and DVD have sold millions of copies.

Since then, Maxwell has produced, written and directed the film “Gods and Generals,” the prequel to “Gettysburg.” “Gods and Generals' was released in 2003 and more thar 600,000 copies sold the first week il was released to video.

Maxwell is currently in develop ment on two major motion pictures “The Last Full Measure,” the fina part of his Civil War Trilogy, ant “Joan of Arc, The Virgin Warrior.” > 13 really enjoyed it,” Maxwell sait of his film narration foray, a rarity foi the man more often found behind th< camera than in front of it. “I’m a han at heart”
