Chief Ann Spieker has agreed to provide river water for irrigation on a temporary basis. We are in the process of selecting a contractor to install the pump in the well donated by LeHew Well Drilling. Paving on the track should commence during the week of June 13. The facility is scheduled to open in late August.
Hearthstone School
May has been a busy month for students at Hearthstone School.
At the beginning of the month, Hearthstone’s Waldorf Advisor, Hans-Joachim Maa^ke, arrived at the school for his annual visit. Mr. Maatke is a Waldorf expert hading from Stuttgart, Germany, where he teaches in the Waldorf School. He consults with numerous Waldorf Schools throughout Europe and the United States, and spends a week with Hearthstone on an annual basis to assist teachers with lesson plans and curricula, as well as meeting to advise the School on policy, operations and development matters.
On May 12, Hearthstone hosted the annual Poetry Reading for students of Rappahannock County. Eveiy student at Hearthstone from first through 12th grades performed poetry, and most of the middle and high school students performed original works, some of which were performed to original music. Hearthstone students were joined by students from the Mountain Laurel Montessori School at Bell Meade, and presented a wonderful
