What: For more than 15 years Great Meadow has hosted a 4th of July celebration with booming fireworks set to thunderous patriotic music. Each year the Great Meadow Foundation plans bigger, better, larger and more exciting fireworks and 2006 promises to be one of the best ever. For 20 minutes, a barrage of shells fills the skies at Great Meadow for the audience’s pleasure before concluding with a thousand salutes (explosive sounds) choreographed to the traditional pounding beat of the “1812 overture” and the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The sheer magnitude and height of the fireworks stirs the crowd to roaring approval year after year.
Tickets: Admission is $30 per car in advance (higher at the gate). Advance tickets on sale June 1 at the Great Meadow website www.GreatMeadow.org. Proceeds from this event benefit The Meadow Outdoors Foundation, a 501©3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of open space for community access.
