Although Stuart Field is in Rappahannock County in Amissville, over 70 percent of the 300 plus children enrolled in baseball there are from nearby Culpeper County. Culpeper County does not sponsor RAA events. The supervisors were reluctant to accede to the RAA’s initial request of an additional $10,000.
“Culpeper has a lot of skin in this game but no money,” said Supervisor Roger Welch, who was the only opposition vote in the decision to give the RAA $7,000.
