Wakefield student
receives honor
Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) sixth grader John Morgan Christoph was recently honored with other exceptional fifth through eighth graders at a special statewide ceremony hosted by The Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth (CTY).
The ceremony, held on the campus of George Mason University, recognized gifted Virginia students who had performed exceptionally well on rigorous, above-grade-level tests taken this past year (the SAT, ACT or, in the case of fifth and sixth graders, PLUS - a similar test scaled for younger students).
As a sixth grader, Mr. Christoph’s scores were compared to those of ninth graders across the country and were based upon ERB (Educational Records Bureau) norms.
Mr. Christoph was among those students who initially scored at or above the 95th percentile on the standardized tests and was recommended by WCDS to
The Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth. Mr. Christoph was subsequently invited to participate in the CTY program, taking additional tests to measure his mathematical and verbal reasoning skills.
It was based on his outstanding performance in these two areas that Mr. Christoph was one of those individually honored for his academic achievements and promise at the special Center for Talented
