At last effort, the engine is back together, mounted in the tractor, and running. But, the clutch for the power takeoff is in a cardboard box with busted and ground up bearings and shafts, and they don’t make them anymore. And without it, the belly mower can’t be used, and the big finishing mower becomes a pull behind ornament.
■Until I find a D-200 Wheelhorse that someone has parked out by the chicken coop for the last 20 years, watch out for me riding to the post office on my red tractor. Or, maybe I can drive it in the parade at carnival time, behind our new fire truck.
