* Fish add natural fertilizer to water so when you change the water in your aquarium, use it to water plants.
* Check the soil moisture of container-grown plants daily. As the temperature rises, some plants may need water twice daily.
* If you have been pinching back your mums this summer, mid-July is the time to stop so they will be able to develop flower buds for the fall. Apply light fertilizer every two weeks.
