Piedmont United Way has reached its campaign goal of $500,000. The actual total achieved is $500,209 which is 100.04 percent of the goal. According to Warren McKeen, Executive Director of Piedmont United Way this is the first time in five years that Piedmont United Way has met its campaign goal. McKeen noted that “Making the Campaign Goal has been our top priority this year and considering that last fall we were faced with the hurricanes that struck the Gulf coast states and money being sent *' ere, we were doubtful at the time that the goal could be met, but the people of this area are very generous and they gave to hurricane relief and to our campaign.”
Piedmont United Way is the local United Way serving the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock, raising money to fund local health and human service programs. Current funding supports 35 agencies that provide services in the five county region. United Way partners with other organizations to solve problems and situations that affect our communities.
In addition to providing funding for agencies Piedmont United Way plays an active role in current projects including: Aging Together, which is working to determine the needs of and services that will be required by the aging population in our region; Piedmont Housing Network, which is working with providers for shelters and transitional housing for individuals and families in need; and Piedmont Volunteer Center, which is a United Way program working to connect volunteers with agencies and programs that need volunteers.
