The policy also encourages the Director of Food Service to, in the words of the policy statement, “maximize nutritional value by decreasing fat and sugars, increase nutrition density and moderating portion size of each individual food or beverage sold.. .provide foods and beverages sold in vending machines...with maximum nutritional value... (and)...base selections offered on nutrition goals, not profit motives.”
The objectives of the food guidelines adopted by the board are to “promote student health and reduce childhood obesity.”
Progress on field
renovations
The board also noted progress on summer renovations for both the track and the football field.
In spite of recent heavy rains, the track is ready for paving next week. The football' field, which was recently reseeded is showing some growth in spite of recent difficulties with the irrigation system. A new irrigation water pump will be installed next week.
