The Flint Hill Baptist Church actually started in the late 1770s in the home of Allen Wyley.

In 1853-1854, the Flint Hill Baptist Church was organized and was build with the help of 24 charter members.

In 1854, Rev. Barnett Grimsley became the first pastor at the Flint Hill Baptist Church. For years the congregation met every Sunday, eventually beginning to share a minister with the Washington and Amissville Baptist churches.

Then in 1968 the other two churches decided to become independent.

The congregation has met continuously at this location since the early 1850s, with a period of 28 years in which the church closed for lack of a minister and declining membership.
