Amber Welch is preparing to run in the Marine Corps Marathon. This event will be on October 29, 2006 in Washington D.C. Amber trains with a pace group each Saturday morning and runs on her own at least twice a week. Amber decided to run this marathon in an effort to raise funding for the Washington D.C. Whitman - Walker Clinic. This is a clinic that provides medical care, food, housing, and other services to HIV/AIDS victims, to help keep people alive until there is a cure.

Along with committing to run 26.2 miles, Amber has also committed to raise $2,000 by August 1st to help the clinic continue to provide vital services. If you would like to make a contribution in Amber’s name, you can go online to www.aidsmarathon. com and click on the “Sponsor a Runner” link on the right. She is running in the Washington D.C. race and her participant number is 0702. If you prefer the old fashioned method and would like a donor form to mail in a contribution, you can call Steve or Mollie Welch at 675-3425. Contri
