Looking for portrait subjects
Student photographer Jensen Kvames is looking for portrait subjects to photograph during the month of of July. There is no charge for the photography and a small fee ($20) for an 8.5x11 print. The Bluemont Concert Series
The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present the Daryl Davis Band on Saturday, July 15th at 7:30 p.m. for the fifth of ten Saturday evening performances in downtown historic Warrenton.
All concerts will be held at the Old Shadowlawn at 70 Culpeper Street between Franklin and Lee streets, one block south of old Warren Green in downtown Warrenton. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12; proceeds go to support Bluemonfs year round Artist-In-Education Program in area schools. The Daryl Davis Band will also participate in Bluemonfs Healthcare Outreach Program by perfonning for the residents of a local healthcare facility.
The Daryl Davis Band is a five-piece rhythm and blues rock band of the highest order. Davis is an extraordinary man, a great singer, pianist, guitarist, composer and fantastic boogie-woogie player. The band’s instrumentals feature keyboards, rhythm and bass guitars, saxophone and drums and truly classic rock vocals. Davis has worked with the Muddy Waters Legendary Blues Band, Elvis Presley’s Jordanaires, Chuck Berry, and other rock and blues greats. The legendary Berry praised Davis as a “Very, very fine musician. You really ought to hear him!”
Plan to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. A local community group will provide homemade refreshments as a fund raiser for its programs. Door prizes donated by local merchants will be awarded during the intermission. Pets, alcohol and smoking are prohibited at all Bluemont events. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held at the Taylor Middle School auditorium.
This summer, Bluemont will present more than 70 concerts in eleven communities in northwest and central Virginia including Ashland, Colonial Beach, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Leesburg, Luray, Middleburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warrenton and Winchester.
