Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., wrote a letter to President Bush in September 2005, urging the administration to make telecommuting a priority.
Wolf called telecommuting “a family-friendly, quality-of-life issue” that can benefit the environment and companies’ bottom lines.
“In today’s society, daily life more and more is dictated by the commute to and from work,” he wrote. “Telecommuting gives people more time to spend doing the things they enjoy, rather than wasting time stuck in traffic.”
With political wifi shifting in favor of telecommuting, it may be technical experts like Gordon that finally help workers get online and off the road.
“I know what it’s like to work at home,” Gordon said. “It’s a more fulfilling life.”
