Rappahannock County High School girls basketball coach Rhonda Jenkins disliked the way her Lady Panthers played Tuesday night in The Plains.
But she could not complain about the result.
“It’s the second win,” Jenkins said after Rappahannock County scored a 47-33 victory over Wakefield School in a non-Bull Run District contest. The win gives the Lady Panthers a 2-6 record. “It was a long time last year before we got two wins.”
A year ago, Rappahannock went into its Christmas break with a 0-9 record.
Tuesday night, the Lady Panthers appeared sluggish. Their offense did not get on track until midway through the second quarter. Wakefield, Jenkins pointed out, looked much stronger. Its offensive scheme ran much smoother.
“Wakefield ran a spread, and it was a really good offense,” she added. “Our kids took an attitude that this was only Wakefield. When we do that, we’re not going to win too
