On Dec. 13, Washington Tbwn Council members unanimously approved a special-use permit for Patrick O’Connell, co-proprietor of The Inn at Little Washington, to operate a bed-and-breakfast in the house at 456 Gay St.
Two guest rooms are planned for the building, which will be used as an extension of The Inn. The proposal did not draw any public comments or opposition.
O’Connell said he has planned for years to use the house as a sort of presidential suite to offer to Inn guests. He said the house has been used for such a purpose on occasion in the past. Actor Warren Beatty and former Vice President A1 Gore are among the notable people who have stayed there, he said.
Both O’Connell and The Inn’s other proprietor, Reinhardt Lynch, have lived in the house from time to time, O’Connell said.
