Another way to lower taxes is to make a contribution of appreciated stock. First, you avoid paying any capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock and second, you receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift.
Contributions may also be made by credit card on line at our secure website, or at the United Way office. You may defer payment of your pledge to 2007, too, if you prefer. Families and individuals making contributions of $500 and more become part of our Leadership Circle and receive special recognition.
If you have questions or would like more information, please call the Piedmont United Way office at (540) 825-7615. Contributions may be mailed to P. O. Box 398, Culpeper, VA 22701, or delivered to die local office in downtown Culpeper at 118 East Piedmont Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What matters? Community matters, neighbors matter, friends matter, family matters, and you matter. The days will pass quickly, so we remind you to make your 2006 “high yield” investment in our community with your contribution to the Piedmont United Way.
