JMU Brass Band plays

music in the British Tradition

The James Madison University Brass Band performs February 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts. Joe Bowman of Coldwell Banker - Panorama Realty is sponsoring this event.

The JMU Brass Band is one of only a few collegiate brass bands in the United States. Formed in the fall of 2000, the band has twice been named the North American Brass Band Association Honors Section Champion and is currently the 2006 Championship Section Runner-up. The group maintains an active performance schedule throughout the academic year, performing regularly both on and off campus. The band was a featured ensemble at the 2006 Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, Kentucky and the 2004 Virginia Music Educators Conference in Norfolk, Virginia.

Tickets are available at Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce, McKim and Huffman Pharmacy, Luray Copy Service, Luray Apothecary and Stanley Pharmacy. Adult tickets are $12, 65 and over are $11 and children 12 and under are $6. Local band students wearing a band tee shirt pay $5. Tickets are usually available at the door, but Performing Arts Luray recommends that patrons purchase tickets in advance. The Box Office at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts opens 45 minutes before the start of the event.
