reenacted a long-standing WCDS tradition: the Christmas Revels. The student government president and vice president, Patrick Dale and Ben Luke, took the stage to lead the school in “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Students in each of the twelve grades assumed responsibility for one of the days, leapt up from their benches, sang their respective verse with great enthusiasm and corresponding movements (e.g. wiggling, flapping, leaping, twirling etc.).

Lantern Walk
On December 14, Hearthstone School was joined by friends and members of the community for its annual Lantern Walk. Children carried papier-mache lanterns they had made at school from colored paper, with small votive candles carefully placed inside. The candles lit the lanterns in a myriad of beautiful colors. The lantern walk was held in the Town of Washington, and songs of light were sung at the Inn, the video store, the Rappahannock News, the Country Cafe and the County Jail. Thanks to all community members who participated and help to make this event a success!
