JV picks up firs

Rappahannock County’s varsity boys basketball team burst out of the gates Friday night, building a quick lead but eventually losing 76-62 against visiting Page County.
The Panthers started the game strongly with a 7-0 run and they were outscored by just one point in the second half. But Rappahannock was outscored 34-14 during the final 12 minutes of the first half, and that lull was too much to overcome.
“The kids are playing good basketball for most of the game, but it’s just that little part that kills us,” coach Bob Czekaj said.
Coach Czekaj also said the Panthers’ size disadvantage played a key part in the setback.
