ONE/OFF returns
to the Middle
Street Gallery
Twenty-two artists from the ONE/OFF printmaking group are returning in May to the Middle Street Gallery to display their varied techniques, following wellreceived shows in 2001, 2003, and 2005.
“Visitors to Middle Street Gallery show will have a chance to see how diverse and innovative the world of contemporary printmaking can be,” said ONE/OFF member, Maiy Holland, Director of the Studio School at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. “Some of the printmakers combine such traditional media as etching with relief and photo-based elements to amazing effect.”
The ONE/OFF Pnntmakers Show will be at the Gallery from May 4 through 27 with an artists’ reception on Sunday, May 6, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
“We hope artists as well as. art lovers will join us at the reception to meet the printmakers and discuss this large show of work,” Holland added.
The Richmond-based group was organized in 1983 with the intention of introducing the expressive possibilities of the various print media to a broader audience. Many of the artists are teachers at such Richmond area institutions such as the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, Randolph Macon College, and their ages range from 30- to 70-something.
The prints of ONE/OFF have been exhibited in England, Scotland, Canada, and South America as well as across the mid-Atlantic region.
The Middle Street Gallery is located next to The Inn at Little Washington.
The gallery is open, Friday through Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
