I was able to spend a weekend with old friends recently. Even better, it was a weekend in Florida with warm, sunny weather while you all suffered through a wet, blustery, miserable weekend! Good friends and warm weather are two of the finer things in life for me.

These friends will be moving in a couple of weeks. It’s a big move, from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to a small acreage in rural Tennessee. This brings back a lot of memories since it’s been just over five years since we relocated from Miami, FL to our little acreage here in Amissville.

So, they picked my brain about what to expect and I tried to remember what surprised us when we moved here. The countryside where they’ll be living looks much like here. And there will be many similarities in flora and fauna. We. can only hope there are many similarities for them in terms of neighbors!

We talked about bears and bird feeders. This was an entirely new line of thought for them as black bears have never made an appearance in their back yard in Florida. I never get tired of telling bear stories!

We talked about hummingbirds and when to expect them and how to make the nectar to feed them. Our feeder is up and our first visitors are here. Of course with only two of them they do more fighting than eating initially!
