The PLA agrees that Dominion has not proven a need for the new lines, but the alliance is emphasizing what it believes is the true cost of the new corridor. Dominion officials estimate that it will cost $210 million to expand the corridor, but the PLA thinks that figure is unrealistically low.
If landowners fight to receive the true market value for their condemned land, Dominion - and its customers — will have to pay millions of dollars more for the new lines.
“We’re going to show this will have a severe impact on the cost of the line and on landowners,” Moorman said. “That will force the SCC to look at alternatives.”
