New coach
Rappahannock County High School has a new football
coach. His name is Mike Williams and he met
With parents and players last Friday evening. He comes from a small school and understands the dynamics and strengths that a small school can offer — even when it comes to fielding a football team.
He brings with him not only years of coaching experience but playing experience as well. Perhaps more importantly he’s coming in with a game plan that includes recruiting players and a regimen that those players be disciplined to be gentlemen off and on the field, focus on their grades, commit to coming to practice and be ready to be part of a winning program where praise is welcome in public and criticism can be handled privately.
Williams comes at a unique time in the history of Rappahannock High School with a new principal and a new athletic director taking the helm as he does - that could make for some pretty exciting energy and chemistry as a new season approaches.
Williams is credited in his previous position with building a football program from a few boys to quite a few boys. He plans on doing that again in Rappahannock.
The football program in this county is still in its infancy. It has plenty of time to grow. It has time for expectations to be fulfilled. Because of its youth and inexperience, it also needs the nurturing and support of this community to help it along the way.
Williams is going to need a couple of assistant coaches to help with his program. He’s going to need some more players and he’s going to need your support and patience as he attempts to craft a viable football program in Rappahannock County.
