Williams did not make many guarantees, but he did promise to make playing for him as much fun as possible.
“I had a lot of fun playing football,” said Williams, who played split end at Division III Emory and Henry College. “My coaches made it ftin and I want to make it fun for you guys.”
On offense, he prefers to keep the defense off guard by running the option, like the U.S. Naval Academy.
“Navy is the slowest, weakest, smallest team in Division I-A,” he said. But the academy has posted a 35-15 record, including a 2-2 mark in bowl games, during the past four years.
Williams also has plans for developing Rappahannock’s football program through boys that are not yet on the varsity squad.
First of all, he said both the varsity and junior varsity teams will run the same practice drills and have the same play book.
“I believe in continuity throughout the program,” Williams said.
