Funding the alliance
It takes a lot of money to be represented at the SCC.
Farmer said the minimum cost to the PLA would be $150,000 if the alliance presents a narrowly focused case. If complexities arise, costs could run as high as $300,000, he said. Right now, the PLA has $85,000.
The alliance plans to hire at least one expert witness to evaluate the economic impact that a new set of power lines would have on nearby property values.
The PLA is also seeking volunteers to identify properties and landowners in the corridor and to contact local officials in the jurisdictions touched by the power lines.
