The 4th of July celebration in Sperryville was awesome. There was a nice breeze blowing and the rain held off. It was an afternoon to to be with our family and friends. There were cheeseburgers, funnel cakes and delicious ice tea, music, and the beautiful fireworks, everything was great! We couldn’t have asked for a better day.
This event has been missed in Rappahannock County for several years and it was wonderful for the Sperryville Fire Department and others to bring it back.
Let’s not forget to thank Richie Burke, Gary Settle and Mike Leake for their long hours of work and to Bill Fletcher for the use of his field. Also, many thanks to law enforcement personnel - many of whom were there on a volunteer basis.
This is what Rappahannock County is all about, working and pulling together and making things work. I hope that this will be the start of a new tradition that we will have in the years to come.
