County Administrator John McCarthy said he does not see a major shortage of commercial areas in the county, but explained that Rappahannock’s zoning code has been written to prevent it from becoming yet another sea of asphalt and strip malls like those so common in other parts of Northern Virginia.
Commercially zoned areas in Rappahannock are mostly confined to the county’s main villages, the General Commercial Overlay District and the Highway Commercial District.
