Mitchell said that states can tailor assessments for smaller groups of students with disabilities and offer incentives for teachers to teach math, science and technology iri low-income areas. States are also allowed to measure a student's progress toward grade level goals as opposed to meeting benchmarks.
For the 2006-2007 school year, Rappahannock County Public Schools achieved pass rates in Grade 6 reading and high school reading, writing, biology, chemistry, earth science, U.S, history, Algebra 1 and World History II.
