SMITH are, they will note that for a small county this is a big turnout for the sheriff’s race. We need to be ‘ proud. Rappahannock’s race for sheriff is not plagued by scandal as is the sheriff’s race in Culpeper County. Over in Fauquier County, incumbent Sheriff Charlie Fox may or may not get re-elected. But, here in Rappahannock, it’s a clean slate with three fresh faces ready to accept the challenge of serving this county. COUNTY For many of you, these three candidates represent familiar presences. They have much in common. All have good hearts, strong morals, ready smiles and a desire to provide a place to five that is safe. They would all like to protect you. They come with years of leadership responsibilities, managerial experience, expertise in the latest law enforcement practices and strong convictions about what serving the citizens of Rappahannock County should be about. All of them are graduates of Rappahannock County High School. They have roots here. They are all good communicators. They are good listeners. While they might be your neighbor, friend, colleague or relative, vote for who you believe will best serve Rappahannock County. Each of them, if chosen, would wrap their hands and hearts around this county as if it were their own family. The choice will not be an easy one but it will be yours to make in November. Save the date The Rappahannock News will be sponsoring a sheriff’s forum on Tuesday. October 2, starting at 7 p.m. It will be held in the auditorium at Rappahannock County High School.
