Wakefield Country Day School float earns second place in parade
The Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) float won second place in the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Carnival Parade in Flint Hill Aug. 17. Eleven WCDS students clad in medieval-style garb rode atop the float, waving and tossing candy to spectators. School head Kathleen Grove and junior Katie vonFange, who led the Key Club in decorating the float and helped organize the participants, escorted the enthusiastic bunch through the Flint Hill streets.
Seventh-graders
get acquainted
Rising seventh-graders at WCDS spent the better part of Aug. 15 hiking at White Oak Canyon. The class, larger than last year’s, climbed rocks, swam and ate a picnic lunch. Academic Dean Rachel Bechtold discussed with the students opportunities for service projects in the coming academic year. The seventh grade students are the leaders of the lower school.
