Charlottesville residency will be Kid Fan Alley’s third professionally recorded CD of songs written and sung by children.
Julie Portman, Ki’s Artistic Director, is a finalist for the prestigious Brimstone Award, which recognizes innovative applications of storytelling. As a wonderful example of the work that led to this honor, Juke continues to develop and expand the role of story in community building through the Rappahannock Story Project. This initiative — undertaken by Ki in partnership with the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors, the Piedmont Environmental Council, and the Rappahannock Public Library — seeks to increase diverse participation in planning for the future of our beautiful county. The Project held its pilot story circle in July, where many residents of the county exchanged stories while Julie and the RSP board of advisors honed the story-gathering process that will be used for the Project.
