“I just get rent,” he said.

Harvey said that the number of rooms rented for wedding receptions is determined up to a year in advance and can include rooms at Graystone Estate.

Prosecuting attorney Peter Luke said the arrangements qualify as commercial activity.

“He can’t let people stay [at Graystone Estate] for ‘free’ because they pay for the wedding and this is just thrown in,” Luke said. “The plain fact of the matter is these people are staying there because they paid money for a wedding. They’re not just friends of his stopping by.”

Harvey said that Blue Rock Inn has about 10 wedding receptions planned between now and January. He said guests will not be staying at Graystone Estate.

“Anybody who’s having a wedding at Blue Rock can’t stay up here unless they’re friends and family,” he said.

He noted, though, that this weekend Blue Rock Inn will host a wedding reception for a long-time friend of his, and that his son will be part of the wedding party. He plans to put them up at Graystone Estate.
