Richie Burke, management coordinator for the county^s emergency services, wrote a letter to County Administrator John McCarthy to suggest that Rappahannock form a public safety committee.
*1 believe the time has come txiat we need this committee so that we may as a group mada up of Board of Supervisors members, county administration, law enforcement, - j, fire-and-rescue representatives and a citizen member discuss current and future issues that concern public safety in Rappahannock County” Burke wrote.
He said the committee will help ensure the county's eligibility for federal funding and grants and will help representatives from different county groups understand the problems that emergency services face in Rappahannock.
Culpeper and Fauquier counties have had public safety committees for more than 20 years, Burke said.
“I know we are a small county, but we have many big issues that will be coming down the road and it will be much better to solve them as a group,” Burke wrote.
