School

Closings

With winter here at full blast, parents are often greeted first thing in the morning by youngsters asking ‘‘do we have school today?” The Rappahannock School administration has taken the guesswork out of the answer.

Assistant Superintendent of Schools Ray Hogan announced last week that the following radio stations will be notified of county school closings: WFTR, Front Royal; WCVA AM and FM, Culpeper; WKCW, Warrenton; WEER AM and FM, Warrenton; WRVA, Richmond; WRAA, Luray; WINC, Winchester and WSVA television in Harrisonburg. The old adage, “no news is good news,” doesn’t apply—at least as far as children are concerned. If parents tune into one of the aforelisted stations and don't hear any information concerning Rappahannock Schools, it means that classes will be held as normally scheduled, Hogan explained.
