SMITH ON APPROPRIATIONS

Fauquier County’s Delegate Alson H. Smith Jr. of Winchester has been appointed to the House Appropriations Committee. “This year,” Smith says, “the committee will appropriate an estimated S9 billion for the biennium...to fund governmental programs. I am looking forward to maintaining Virginia’s image of fiscal responsibility.”

Smith also serves on the Corporations, Insurance and Banking committee and the Conservation and Natural Resources committee.

PARIMUTUEL BILL IN COMMITTEE

Del. Raymond R. Andy Guest of Front Royal expected the bill he has sponsored to permit parimutuel betting to come before the House Committee on General Laws this week.

Guest has been appointed to the Finance Committee which considers any measure affecting taxes. He continues to serve on the Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources and the Roads and Internal Navigation committees.
