Central Telephone Company of Virginia ha* agreed to make lump sum back pay awards to certain female and minority employees as compensation for alleged past discrimination in job opportunities. The utility and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) on October 4, 1977, signed an agreement which provides for the payments and certain affirmative action related to such employees. The GSA is one of several federal agencies which monitors government contractors for compliance with affirmative action-equal employment opportunity statutes and regulations.
