The 1979 Feed Grain and Wheat Program sign-up period will be February 15 through April 16, 1979 to file intentions to participate. The program is voluntary but in order to be eligible for commodity loans, disaster payments, and deficiency payments, you must sign-up during this period and setaside the required amount of cropland.
The wheat and barley required set-aside is an acreage of cropland equal to 20 per cent of the amount you have planted. The required set-aside for corn and grain sorghum will be 10 per cent of the planted acreage with the option to set-aside an additional 10 per cent voluntary diversion for a payment. The payment will be SI.00 times the commodity yield times the additional acreage diverted. All other provisions are basically the same as in 1978.
Each farm in the county with an established normal crop acreage (NCA) will receive a notice of the NCA for the farm and a commodity yield on those basic commodities grown in 1978 in advance of the sign-up period. We encourage every farmer with an established NCA base for 1979 to visit the ASCS office during the .ign-up period and let us explain this program to you ind how it will benefit you in I'our 1979 farming operation.
