The Sperryville Rescue Squad transported Mrs. Susan Majors from home to Warren Memorial Hospital, Feb. 8. Mrs. Lee Foster was taken from home to Warren Memorial Hospital, Feb. 9, by the same unit.
On February 8, the Flint Hill Rescue Unit transported Charles Jenkins from his home in Huntly to Warren Memorial Hospital.
Amissville Fire Company responded to assist Flint Hill at a house fire February 2 at the farm of Jay Dawson at Huntly. This department responded to a chimney fire January 26 at the residence Of Sadie Colbert on Rt. 611 and to a chimney fire at the John Lawrence home January 18. The 8th of January they answered a call to a field fire at the property of Steve Painter on Rt. 772.
Elton Hitt was transoorted to the Fauquipr •acility on the 28th. Februqfy 6 Horace Scott was taken by the Amissville unit to Culpeper Hospital.
Park Visits
Increase
Visits to Shenandoah National Park in January increased by 10.5 per cent, according to statistics released by Park Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen. In January, 1978, the park had 29,400 visits. In January, 1979, the number jumped to 32,500.
Overnight stays in January, 1978, totalled 2,771. For January, 1979, overnight visits dropped to 2,194.
Readings at Big Meadows Weather Station show the maximum temperature for January was 49 degrees and the minimum minus eight degrees. Precipitation measured 7.9 inches and snowfall totalled 7.5 inches.
Chorus Program
The Men’s Chorus of Promise Land Baptist Church will present a concert on February 24, at 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Washington.
