The United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company of Baltimore has given the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg a grant of $100,000 to support an endowed history professorship honoring William E. Pullen, a former student.

The new professorship, known as the William E. Pullen Professorship in American History, honors Pullen for some 40 years of service in the insurance industry.

The gift was made to William and Mary's campaign for the College, a three-year fund-raising effort seeking $19 million.
