Somewhere there’s a Viewtown.
But careful scrutiny of any current national or Virginia Highway Department map fails to disclose whether Viewtown is a commune or community, a town or tourist attraction. Not a thin tracing line to show the way. Not a tiny distinguishing dot to tell where.
All this is going to change.
At least the Citizenship Committee of the Amissville Ruritan Club has volunteered to research and even excavate if necessary, in an effort to prove either the existence of a living society or an extinct culture.
There is strong evidence that if there be a Viewtown that it is an existing civilization, somewhere in Rappahannock County, U.S.A. Information offered by individuals, by the U. S. post authority and that sureto-get-cha department of taxation, reveal a population of approximately two hundred souls.
But beyond the limits of (S) five miles, knowledge of the whereabouts of Viewtown is very blurred. Any query beyond this perimeter, elects the patronizing but unsatisfactory reply of, "Viewtown, oh yeah, I’ve heard of the place.”
