A preliminary study by the U. S. Department of Agriculture, recently released by the U. S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, shows that 17,100 acres of Virginia farm, crop and woodlands were bought by foreign investors during an 18-month period covering 1977 to mid-1978, according to Seventh District Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson.
The finding placed Virginia 17th among the 50 states in the amount of farmlands acquired by aliens in the period from Jan. 1, 1977, through June 30, 1978, Robinson said. However, he cautioned that the figures
