As at the June 22 hearing on the proposed budget, there was no participation from the general public. With the exception of School Superintendent William Bloomer and Assistant Superintendent Rob McDaniel, the Supervisors were alone at their meeting.
Expenditures in the final budget for 1979-80 total $2,262,773—an increase of $121,840 over the current year. The 1979-80 tax rate of $4.20 is the same level as in the current year. According to county accountant Walter Cox, increased expenditures will be offset by drawing an estimated $115,638 from surplus county funds and by increased collection of utility taxes, Alcohol Beverage Control Board profits and federal payments in lieu of taxes.
The largest increase— $220,641—comes in the School Fund that comprises 69.9 percent of the total budget.
