In every class, she explained, there have been some children more interested in learning and some not always easy to keep within the boundaries of good behavior.
She doesn’t feel that teaching has changed much during her 42 years. “As with most things, there’s a lot more paperwork now," she said. Even with all the new fangled instructional aids, she doesn’t think the job has grown any easier. “It’s pretty much the same—just about as difficult,” Miss Wood remarked.
She has noticed, though, a decline in the interest youngsters show in reading and attributed it to the popularity and availability of television.
