In view of the irregularities attending the recent appointments to the"school board by the board of electoral trustees as reported in the June 28 Rappahannock News, it would be helpful to have answered several questions arising from the appointment procedures.

Your editorial raises a number of serious issues that need public discussion and answers from public officials: the possibility or at least the. appearance of conflict of interest, a secret vote by a public body on a public matter, no recorded minutes, questionable legality of the two . appointments, and appointment of a person neither nominated nor discussed at the public* meeting called precisely for this purpose.
