Sheriff’s Department personnel had not been served with papers in the suit as of Monday evening. Mannion said he learned of the legal action while watching a Charlottesville television news broadcast on Thursday night. He said he'd also read an article carried in the Richmond TimesDispatch on Friday that reported the filing.
"We have not been served with papers,” said Buntin on Monday. “1 have no comment until we're formally advised of the charges against us."
