The suit alleges that the injuries would not have been fatal if Corbin had received medical treatment while in custody. According to the suit. Corbin was driving under the influence of alcohol about 6 p.m. Christmas Day when he lost control of his truck near Flint Hill, crashed through a fence and hit a tree.
Corbin appeared disoriented when found by rescue squad and Sheriffs Department personnel, the suit continues, and had to be pulled from his truck. Allegedly, he refused any kind of assistance or to accept responsibility.
The suit contends that deputies ignored the wishes of rescue squad members who wanted to take Corbin to a hospital and “instead had him handcuffed and possibly physically beaten and transported to jail.”
Mrs. Corbin claims she made repeated calls to the jail that night seeking medical attention for her son with no success. Instead, according to the suit, he was held in a cell from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 a.m. the following day.
The suit reports that Corbin collapsed within an hour of arriving home and
shortly miter he wmS taken to Warren Memorial Hospital.
