People getting supplemental security income (SSI) payments shouldn’t feel they’re being singled out for investigation when they’re contacted during the year by social security representatives, says Bruce A. Hundley, social security manager in Culpeper.
The SSI program makes monthly payments to people with little or no income and limited resources who are 65 and over or blind or disabled. The law requires that eligibility for SSI and the amount of the monthly payments be redetermined once a year for everyone getting the payments, he pointed out.
