I ney requested the cooperative’s board of directors to consider (1) retaining the current agricultural designation on the property instead of seeking a rezoning to commercial (B-2) and (2) dropping the amount of land involved in the request from the entire 9.66 acres to a smaller portion of the tract.

At Wednesday’s special meeting. Bill Fletcher, attorney for the co-op, indicated that his clients would not alter their original application in any way.

Fletcher insisted that commercial was the proper category for the 9.66 acre lot since the co-op is a retail store. ‘‘The only reason they’re asking for the rezoning is because the co-op wants to plan for the future. The co-op doesn’t want to be limited...One sure way to cut the throat of a business is not to allow it to expand. If they go on and don’t have room to enpaiwkf max -have-to move to another area,” Fletcher warned.

Planner E. P. Luke asked if Fletcher had reviewed with the directors requirements for screening and control of noise, smoke, pollutants, etc. covered in Article 13 of the county’s zoning ordinance. These requirements would
