winning basketball tradition at RCHS. He feels his players need confidence in themselves, confidence that can be built only by winning. “We need to build a winning tradition,” he repeatedly emphasized. “That’s a real problem here.”
While half the team members have varsity experience, their coach has none. Logan was formerly IV coach at RCHS. This is his first year in the varsity slot.
Logan believes there’s a big difference in pressure levels between varsity and JV and is convinced his lack of experience at the higher level will definitely have an effect on the team.
Logan listed the Panthers’ other areas of weakness as height and speed. He feels his squad compensates for the absence of a tall center and forwards with leaping ability and good moves on defense. He noted, however, that Rappahannock’s scoring punch would be more threatening if the team was taller.
According to Logan, Rappahannock participates in Virginia’s strongest group A district. He bases his opinion on the performance of Skyline teams against opponents from other districts.
