Luminiara

On Sale

Residents of the area are being afforded the opportunity of joining other Christians around the country to place luminaria outside their homes this Christmas season. This is an old Spanish custom for Christmas Eve when the luminaria are placed outside to make a lighted pathway for the Christ Child to enter homes.

Luminaria consists of white paper bags, plumber’s candles and sand and are placed eight to ten feet apart around churches and homes. A mass lighting takes place at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and the candles and sufficient sand, is $1.50 and are available from Lynne Baines of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church. They may be ordered by calling her in the evenings at 675-3253 and may be picked up December 15 between 10 and 12 at the church.
